We are going to be moving from a one bedroom apartment to a two story town home. My cat…

When moving a cat to a new home it is useful to set aside a quiet, safe area where the cat will be for the first few days. This spot should have food, water bowl, resting spots and a litter box. After the cat has become comfortable in that area, they can be let out to explore the rest of the home. Most will usually return to their “home base” to eat and use their litter box. As the cat becomes more comfortable in the new home they can spend more time out of their safe area. Some older cats that might be suffering from arthritis or another source of pain may find climbing up and down the stairs a bit of problem when it comes to accessing their litter box.
