I have two cats, brother and sister from the same litter. They are six and I have had…
I’m sorry, but some cats simply warm up to strangers very slowly. Be glad that your cat at least now likes your boyfriend! For her to accept a child, she’d need to be carefully introduced and receive lots of consistent and positive reinforcement.
For instance, the child could be the one responsible for filling her food bowl, to give her the idea that kids are a GOOD thing for a cat. Long distance toys like fishing pole lures can be played with so the cat learns that children can be fun. And the children must be carefully taught how to react around a frightened cat, and avoid making her more upset. There’s no way to predict how long the process might take.
The high cat tree and armoire, with lots of cat hidey holds she can stay out of sight probably would be the best idea for this feline. The product Feliway also can help many cats feel more confident in their surroundings.
