I have two cats and a stray showed up. I am feeding him so what is the best thing to feed…
The best cat food would be the food that’s right for your cat. The key to selecting the proper food for your cat is knowing the right questions to ask. These would include questions regarding your cat’s life stage, activity level, current body condition and whether your cat likes the food.
If you cat is younger than one year of age, it would be important to select a food that is appropriate either for kittens, such as Purina Kitten Chow brand kitten food. If you live in a household with multiple cats, in multiple stages of life, or if your kitten tends to be overweight a product designed for all life stages might work well for your cats. These would include Purina Cat Chow brand cat food.
For adult cats, you also need to consider your pet’s activity level and life stage. If you have an adult cat with normal activity, Cat Chow would be an excellent choice. If you have an older, more sedentary cat, or one who is overweight, your best choice would probably be Purina Cat Chow Vitality or Purina Cat Chow indoor Formula brand cat foods. Very active cats, pregnant or nursing cats would benefit from the extra nutrition provided by Kitten Chow.
What ever your choice, it is important to be sure to measure the amount you feed, and only feed what is necessary to help your cat maintain an ideal body condition. To determine if your cat is fit, make certain that you can feel your cat’s ribs with slight pressure. Also look for a waist when viewing your cat from above, and a slight tuck when viewing your cat from the side. It may be helpful to use a “hands on” approach to determine your cat’s body condition.
