I bet a lot of people are reading this and laughing because their cat does the same thing. This is not an unusual as you would think. We don’t always know why cats do this although we start by looking for any medical reason. A good exam, looking for signs of extra testosterone or other issues like inflamed anal glands would be a place to start. It could also be an attention seeking or compulsive behavior. In some cases it’s just normal. I would not worry about this behavior as long as this activity is not taking up a lot of his time. Nor do I think you have to take “Missy” away.
